WHO WAS ANACHARSIS ?

 Anacharsis said by Herodotus to possess been a Scythian prince of the 6th century bc, who having travelled widely (and consistent with one account found that in Greece the Spartans were the sole people with whom it had been possible to carry a wise conversation), returned to Scythia, and was killed by his own people, perhaps for trying to introduce the worship of the Cybele .

MEETING WITH SOLON

Solon, one among the Seven Sages of ancient Greece, at the time was busy drafting humane laws for Athenians, which might benefit a majority of the local populace. the primary meeting between Anacharsis and Solon was rather eventful. consistent with legend, Anacharsis, upon arrival in Athens, visited Solon’s residence to satisfy the good lawmaker.

DEATH

Due to his increasing popularity among Scythians both, as an individual and for his proposed reforms, Anacharsis had made several hidden enemies- one among them, his own cousin who was the successor to the Scythian throne.

This cousin, whose name remains unknown, searched for a chance to eliminate Anacharsis. One such a chance provided itself when the good thinker and his cousin were on a hunting trip. The cousin shot Anacharsis with a poisoned arrow. Though grievously injured, Anacharsis is claimed to possess survived but just for a couple of days. He was shot with an arrow again on the lawns of the royal palace, by his cousin in or around 550BC.
