Mountains grow , when movements of erath crust moves upwards the rock. Anyways there is no limit that how much the mountain grows but not much higher than mount everest which is of 29,090 feet above the sea level in meters it is 8840.

Many researchers said mountains stop growing at a point the reason will be earths gravity . And mountains are formed because of Tectonic plates . When two tectonic plates collide it moves upwards and these way all mountains are formed.

The plate keep pushes too hard that it gets more stiff . At some points mountains stops growth because of its heavy weight also .



Mountains can also form in other ways like eruption of volcano.

If earth has lesser gravity mountains grow much higher , planets like mars has mountains higher than Mt everest. The tallest mountain in the solar system is about 82,020 feet higher which is three times of Mt everest.

The another important reason for mountains growth are erosion.
